Organising a Wedding
There are essentially two options when it comes to organising your wedding in Spain. The first is that you organise it all yourself, a DIY wedding. If you are having a small, low-key and intimate wedding, then this may the best option. For example, if you are hiring a private house with 8 rooms and your friend is marrying you, then no problem.
But if, you want catering staff, decorations and a beauty team, then it is probably better to select a hotel, that has a wedding coordinator, who can organise everything. Alternatively, you could hire a wedding planner that lives in your chosen destination.
It is always best to hire somebody already living there, as they have connections and can speak the language. While English is the most common second language in Spain, there are some people who do not speak a word.

The Legality of Getting Married in Spain
For your special day to be legally binding in Spain, one of you either needs to be a Spanish national or to have been an official resident for a minimum of 2 years. For many this is an unachievable requirement. But this doesn’t mean you can’t have a wedding ceremony in Spain. It means that you will need to have two weddings. YAY! One in your home country and one in Spain. You don’t even need to tell the guests.
