Two to three nights is ideal for a Geneva city break holiday. Two full days allow time for the old town and Cathedral, the Jet d’Eau and lakeside promenade, the Red Cross Museum, a boat trip on the lake and the Pâquis neighbourhood. A third day is best used for a day trip — Chamonix (one hour) is spectacular and unmissable on clear days; Montreux and the Château de Chillon (forty-five minutes) is the most popular Swiss alternative.
