H10 Tindaya sits on Costa Calma’s southern coast in Fuerteventura, with direct access to the wide, wind-sculpted sands of Playa de Sotavento, regularly rated one of Europe’s finest beaches. This four-star resort has built a loyal following among UK travellers for its scale, its facilities and its unbeatable beach position.
With five pools, three restaurants and five bars spread through the grounds, it is designed for a genuinely relaxed, well-equipped week. Here is everything worth knowing before you book.
The beach is the headline reason: Playa de Sotavento’s shallow lagoon and reliable Atlantic winds make this stretch of coast one of the world’s best-known kitesurfing and windsurfing destinations, and the hotel sits directly on it.
Scale is the second draw. Five pools and three distinct restaurants mean guests rarely feel they are competing for space, even in the busiest weeks of the Canarian summer and winter-sun seasons alike.
Rooms range from comfortable 23 square metre doubles through to 26 square metre superior rooms with sea and pool views, and up to spacious 42 square metre family rooms with separate living areas and sea-facing terraces. All come with air conditioning, satellite television and a private balcony or terrace as standard.
The family rooms are a genuine step up in space compared with many Fuerteventura resorts of similar rating, making them worth the supplement for anyone travelling with children who want room to spread out.
Five outdoor pools cover every preference: three adult pools, one of which is heated through the winter months, plus two heated children’s pools and a dedicated splash park for younger guests. Sun terraces with loungers surround each pool area, rarely feeling crowded given the scale of the grounds.
The main buffet restaurant anchors breakfast, lunch and dinner with a broad international spread, while two à la carte restaurants add variety across a longer stay. Five bars, including a lobby bar, pool bar, coffee bar, lounge bar and evening disco, cover everything from a quiet coffee to a proper night out without leaving the hotel.
Half board, full board and all-inclusive options are all available, with all-inclusive particularly popular given the range of dining spread across the resort.
Given the beach’s reputation, watersports are the natural focus here: kitesurfing and windsurfing schools operate directly from the shore, though these typically run under separate management rather than being included in the room rate. On-site, the hotel runs a full daytime and evening entertainment programme alongside a kids’ club for younger guests.
Both are well served. The 42-square-metre family rooms, splash park and kids’ club cover family needs generously, while the scale of the resort means couples can find quieter pool corners even during busy weeks.
Watersports enthusiasts of any travelling style will appreciate the direct beach access, one of the best launch points on the island for kitesurfing lessons.
Costa Calma sits on Fuerteventura’s southern Jandia peninsula, built around the vast Sotavento beach that stretches for kilometres in both directions. The hotel’s direct beach access is its standout feature, with the resort’s shops, bars and restaurants an easy walk away.
Playa de Sotavento — directly in front of the hotel, one of Europe’s most celebrated beaches and a world-class watersports destination.
Jandia Natural Park — protected coastal dunes and cliffs stretching south, excellent for walking and wildlife.
Morro Jable — Jandia’s lively resort town, around 20km south, with a longer promenade and more restaurant choice.
Oasis Wildlife Fuerteventura — a family-friendly animal park near Costa Calma, popular for a change from the beach.
Corralejo Dunes National Park — further north, but worth the drive for the dramatic desert-like dune landscape.
Fuerteventura Airport is around 65km away, a transfer of approximately 50–60 minutes, one of the longer resort transfers on the island given Costa Calma’s southerly position.
A hire car is useful for exploring Jandia and the island’s north, though the resort itself is comfortably walkable, and taxis cover Morro Jable easily.

H10 Tindaya suits watersports enthusiasts above all, thanks to its position on one of the world’s premier kitesurfing beaches, alongside families wanting spacious rooms and couples who appreciate a resort with genuine scale. Its year-round mild climate also makes it a strong choice for winter sun as well as summer holidays.
Guests wanting an intimate, boutique-style stay may prefer a smaller property elsewhere on the island, as this is very much a large-scale resort hotel.
Book Sotavento-facing rooms if the view and beach access matter most to you, and check whether your board plan includes the à la carte restaurants, which typically require separate reservations even on all-inclusive packages. Winter half-term weeks sell out fastest given the reliable weather.
Mornings suit the beach directly in front of the hotel, with the reliable Sotavento winds making early starts popular among the kitesurfing crowd. Families often split the day between the splash park and the calmer of the three adult pools.
Afternoons work well for a walk along the promenade into Costa Calma’s shops and cafes, before returning for the resort’s evening entertainment and one of the three restaurants for dinner.
Jandia Natural Park, immediately south, offers protected dunes, cliffs and coastal walking trails with genuinely dramatic scenery. Morro Jable, roughly 20km further south, makes an easy half-day trip for a change of restaurant scene and a longer promenade.
North along the coast, Fuerteventura’s interior villages and the Betancuria historic area reward a hire-car day trip, offering mountain scenery quite different from the flat southern beaches.
A hire car opens up the whole island easily from this southerly base, with Corralejo’s dunes around an hour north and Betancuria’s mountain scenery a similar distance inland. Without a car, resort transfer coaches and taxis cover the essentials, though excursions further afield are best organised through the hotel’s tour desk.
Fuerteventura’s roads are generally quiet and well maintained, making self-drive day trips genuinely enjoyable rather than a chore.
