Belek Holidays

Belek

Last updated: September 2026

Belek holidays centre on Turkey’s most prestigious and purpose-built resort destination: a purpose-designed coastal resort 30km east of Antalya that has grown into the undisputed golf capital of Turkey and one of the finest luxury beach resort destinations in the eastern Mediterranean.

Belek holidays attract three distinct types of visitor: golfers who want access to world-class courses with guaranteed sunshine; families seeking large, well-equipped five-star all-inclusive resorts on a sandy beach; and couples who want a step up in luxury from the standard Turkish package holiday.

The resort was developed from scratch in the 1990s as a planned tourism zone, which means the infrastructure, hotel quality and facilities are consistently high. Belek has more five-star hotels per kilometre than almost anywhere else in Turkey.

Why Choose Belek Holidays?

Belek holidays deliver a resort experience that is genuinely a step above the typical Turkish Mediterranean package. The hotels are larger, newer and better-equipped than most resorts on the coast. The golf courses are of international championship standard. The beach is long, sandy and well-maintained.

The planned nature of the Belek resort zone works in visitors’ favour. Wide, tree-lined boulevards, well-maintained grounds, strict environmental standards and a high ratio of green space to buildings give the resort a more spacious and upmarket feel than older, more organic resorts like Side or Kemer.

Belek holidays are popular with UK, German and Scandinavian visitors. The resort caters well to international guests — English is widely spoken, menus are multilingual and airport transfers are efficient and fast.

Value remains one of the great advantages of Belek holidays. Even the most prestigious five-star all-inclusive resorts in Belek cost considerably less than comparable properties in Marbella, Sardinia or the Algarve, with a longer beach season and more guaranteed sunshine.

The transfers from Antalya Airport take 30–45 minutes — short enough for a stress-free arrival after a four-hour flight from the UK.

Belek Golf — Turkey’s Golfing Capital

Belek is home to more than ten championship golf courses, making Belek holidays the clear first choice for golfing visitors to Turkey. The courses have hosted multiple European Tour events and are consistently rated among the best in the region.

The course quality is exceptional. Belek’s courses combine lush fairways — kept green by excellent irrigation — with challenging layouts, modern clubhouses and a standard of greenskeeping that matches courses in Spain or Portugal. The flat coastal terrain is unusual for Turkey and makes walking the courses comfortable.

The guaranteed sunshine and long golf season are major advantages. Belek holidays for golfers can be planned from March through to November with near-certain good weather. Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the most popular golf seasons, when temperatures are comfortable for a full round.

The main courses include Gloria Golf Resort, Cornelia Diamond Golf Club, Regnum Carya Golf Club, Nobilis Golf Club and the National Golf Club. Green fees are competitive compared to equivalent courses in Spain or Portugal.

Most large Belek resort hotels have partnerships with nearby golf clubs, offering preferential green fee rates and organised transfers. Many package deals for Belek holidays include golf rounds in the overall price.

Belek Beach

Belek holidays benefit from one of the best beaches on the Turkish Mediterranean Coast. The main beach runs for several kilometres, offering fine sand, clear blue water and good facilities for hotel guests and day visitors alike.

The Belek coastline was deliberately protected during the resort’s development, with strict rules governing the distance hotels must be set back from the beach. This has preserved a more natural beach environment than at Lara Beach, where the hotels crowd right to the sand.

The sea at Belek is calm and clear, with water temperatures reaching 27–28°C in August. The sandy bottom shelves gently, making it suitable for families with young children. The beach is well-organised with sunbed rental, beach cafes and water sports facilities.

A short distance west, Lara Beach offers another 5km of fine sand — easily accessible by taxi for Belek holiday guests who want to vary their beach experience.

Hotels and Resorts in Belek

Belek holidays are characterised by large, luxurious all-inclusive resort hotels. The planned development zone means most properties are modern, spacious and set within extensive manicured grounds.

The standard of Belek hotels is consistently high. A typical five-star Belek resort offers 500–900 rooms, multiple outdoor pools, a private beach section, five to eight restaurants, extensive spa and wellness facilities, tennis courts and a full entertainment programme.

Several of Turkey’s most prestigious hotel brands have properties in Belek: Gloria Hotels, Cornelia Diamond, Regnum Carya and Rixos all operate flagship properties here. These set the benchmark for what Turkish all-inclusive hospitality can deliver.

Smaller, more boutique properties also operate in Belek for guests who want a quieter or more personalised experience. These tend to offer a higher staff-to-guest ratio and a more relaxed atmosphere than the largest resorts.

Activities Beyond Golf in Belek

Belek holidays offer a comprehensive range of activities beyond the golf courses. The resort’s high-quality hotel infrastructure ensures that guests who are not golfers — including non-golfing partners and children — are equally well catered for.

Land of Legends theme and waterpark is Belek’s most popular non-golf attraction. The park has roller coasters, waterslides, wave pools, a beach club and a range of dining options. It is an excellent full-day excursion for families and particularly popular with children and teenagers.

Water sports are available on the beach including jet skiing, parasailing and banana boats. Several Belek hotels include non-motorised water sports in their all-inclusive packages. Diving excursions operate from the marina.

Tennis is popular at Belek — most large hotels have multiple courts and offer coaching. Fitness and spa facilities are well-developed at the five-star resorts, with extensive gym equipment, swimming pools and treatment rooms.

The Aspendos Roman theatre, 20km west, is one of the most impressive ancient monuments on the Turkish Mediterranean Coast and makes an excellent half-day excursion from Belek holidays. The drive passes through pleasant coastal scenery.

Day Trips from Belek

Belek holidays put guests within easy reach of the eastern Turkish Mediterranean Coast’s main attractions.

Aspendos (20km west) is the best-preserved Roman theatre in the world and a must-see on any Belek holiday. The site takes 1–2 hours to explore and can be combined with a visit to Side for a full-day excursion.

Antalya city centre is 30km west of Belek — easily reached by organised transfer or taxi. The Kaleici old town, the Antalya Museum and Konyaalti Beach can all be visited in a single day.

Guided Jeep safaris into the Taurus Mountains are a popular adventure activity from Belek. These typically combine river swimming, village visits, lunch and a scenic mountain drive in a half-day or full-day format.

Family Holidays in Belek

Belek holidays are excellent for families, particularly those who want the combination of high-quality all-inclusive convenience with enough activities to keep children of all ages busy throughout the holiday.

Land of Legends theme park near Belek is one of Turkey’s most popular family attractions. The park can easily fill a full day and is particularly appealing for children aged 6–16. Younger children enjoy the waterpark; older children and teenagers enjoy the more intense rides.

The large Belek resort hotels have extensive children’s facilities: dedicated kids’ pools with slides, children’s clubs with activities and supervision, and teen programmes for older children. The all-inclusive format is particularly practical for families, removing the need to manage meal budgets.

Food, Evenings and Spa in Belek

Belek holidays are heavily all-inclusive in character, and the food offering within the large resorts is genuinely impressive.

The top five-star properties have invested significantly in culinary diversity: a typical Belek resort offers a main international buffet plus four to eight themed restaurants including Turkish, Italian, seafood, Asian and grill options.

The quality of Turkish cuisine available at Belek resorts has improved dramatically. Fresh fish, slow-cooked lamb, grilled meats and traditional mezze are excellently prepared alongside international alternatives. Breakfast buffets are typically exceptional in scale and variety.

Outside the hotels, Belek town has a small but pleasant selection of independent restaurants and cafes. The town is less developed for independent dining than Side or Kemer, which reflects the resort’s primarily all-inclusive character. Antalya city, 30 minutes away, provides the best independent restaurant options.

Spa and wellness facilities are a notable strength of Belek holidays. The five-star resorts have invested heavily in Turkish hammam experiences, international spa treatments, beauty services and fitness facilities. A Turkish bath treatment is a highly recommended experience during any Belek holiday — relaxing, traditional and moderately priced.

Evenings at Belek resorts follow the large all-inclusive pattern: entertainment programmes, live music and organised activities within the hotel grounds. The atmosphere is sophisticated and family-friendly rather than a party scene.

Belek holidays reward those who want more than just a beach break — combining luxury accommodation, championship golf, fine dining and easy access to Turkey’s greatest ancient sites in one well-organised and consistently sunny destination.

Getting to Belek

Belek is served by Antalya Airport (AYT), approximately 30km to the west. Transfer times are 30–45 minutes depending on exactly which hotel you are staying at. The airport has direct flights from most UK airports throughout the summer season.

Airlines flying directly from the UK to Antalya include TUI, Jet2, easyJet and Turkish Airlines. Charter flights from regional airports are common and keep the overall cost of Belek holidays competitive. The flight takes approximately four hours.

The Turkish Mediterranean Coast road network gives Belek excellent connectivity to Antalya, Side and Aspendos. Hiring a car at the airport is worthwhile for guests who want to explore the coast and nearby ancient sites independently.

Frequently Asked Questions About Belek Holidays

Is Belek the best resort in Turkey for golf?

Yes. Belek is unquestionably Turkey’s leading golf destination with more than ten championship courses, several of which have hosted European Tour events.

The combination of excellent course quality, guaranteed sunshine from March to November, and good-value five-star hotel packages makes Belek holidays the automatic first choice for golfing visitors to Turkey.

Do you have to play golf on a Belek holiday?

Not at all. Belek holidays are equally popular with non-golfers.

The large all-inclusive resorts have excellent beach and pool facilities, the Land of Legends theme park is a full-day activity for families, and Antalya, Aspendos and Side are all within easy reach for day trips. Non-golfing partners and families are very well catered for throughout the resort.

What is the beach like at Belek?

Belek has a long sandy beach with clear water and gentle conditions. The sea is calm and shallow-shelving, making it ideal for families. The beach is well-maintained and less crowded than Lara Beach, partly because the hotels are set further back from the shoreline. Water temperature reaches 27–28°C in August.

How does Belek compare to Lara Beach?

Belek holidays tend to be more upmarket and spacious, with a higher proportion of five-star hotels and more emphasis on golf and luxury. Lara Beach is closer to Antalya Airport (15 vs 30–45 minutes) and has a denser concentration of large all-inclusive hotels right on the sand.

Both offer excellent value; Belek suits those prioritising golf or a higher-end resort experience.
