Málaga city is just 15 minutes by Cercanías train — the Picasso Museum, Alcazaba and Mercado de Atarazanas are an easy day out. The train runs every 20 minutes from Torremolinos station.
Fuengirola is 15 minutes west by train — the Bioparc, Sohail Castle and the longer beach are worth a day trip. Benalmadena is 5 minutes east — Tivoli World and the cable car are popular half-day excursions.
Granada and the Alhambra are 90 minutes by car or bus — the Nasrid Palaces are the essential cultural excursion from any Costa del Sol base. Book timed entry tickets well in advance.
Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP) is just 15–20 minutes from Torremolinos — one of the shortest airport transfers on the Costa del Sol. Taxis take 15 minutes and cost around €15–18. Coach transfers are included with most UK tour operator packages.
The Cercanías suburban rail connects Torremolinos to Málaga Airport (5 mins), Málaga city (15 mins) and Fuengirola (15 mins west). The station is in the centre of the resort. This is the best-connected resort on the coast for public transport.

Torremolinos is the best-connected Costa del Sol resort in winter — the Cercanías train to Málaga city runs throughout the year, giving access to the city’s museum culture and food scene even when the beach resort is quiet. Hotel prices in November to March drop significantly. The climate is mild — 17–19°C most days.
